Booting backup game for ps2 using gameshark 2 version 4

I'm sure the discs are fine, it's the memory card that worries me. But wait, does the dongle go in slot 1 or slot 2?

I was using it in slot 1. I don't think it matters which slot it goes in, try slot 2 and see what happens. The memory card was the first thing that died on me with the old PS1 Gameshark CD version, wouldn't be surprised if your card is dead.

A little bit of an update. I decided to do things differently this time around, and I managed to get the PS1 Code Archive Disc to boot by coldstarting the system instead of turning it on and inserting a disc afterwards. It went straight to a video I only heard the audio. I couldn't skip it either, which is weird. This same thing happened with another Gameshark disc I found at a flea market a year ago. I was reading this support page for the Action Replay and it says that slim PS2s won't recognize older versions of their product, so I think the same thing is happening with my discs.

I appreciate the help. Status Not open for further replies. This is probably how you shud do it Burn gameshark on a cd-r or dvd-r This should work if you have a mod-chip installed. Boot Gameshark 2 V3 2. Select the codes you want 3. Select Start Game 4. If you have a version ps2 replace the Gameshark 2 V3 with the swap magic cd. If you have a version ps2 swap the swap magic cd with the cdloader using ea method and press x.

Wait about 7 seconds and swap the cd original with your cd-r backup and press x. Last edited: May 8, It may depend upon what modchip you have? Well heres an old faq on some modchips for PS2 and Gameshark - link. Hi Yes GS2 means Gameshark 2 and your welcome if it helps.

He does want to use cheats, he is just not sure the method to use with his modchip and ps2 backups. I couldn't tell you for sure if that will work or not. Then you would just have to swap the disk for your backup, once you select your codes and activate game. Seeing like "imdragon" says Gameshark 2 V4 does not eject, so you can swap.
